APRIL DUMAS

April Dumas
My name is April Dumas, I was born in Thompson MB, on April 1, 1978.  I  grew up in Pukatawagan.  My parents, who have been married for 23 years, are Michael and Barbara Dumas. I have two brothers Vernon and Ryan.   In 1995 I had my first child, Mikey; then in 1999 I had my daughter Katerina.

My son and I moved to Thompson MB in 1996 to try to finish my high school education.  We lived there until October 1999 and then moved back to Pukatawagan, with my baby girl.  I then started a job working at the Nikaway Health Center as a  receptionist, which lasted two years.  Now I’m putting all my time taking this Bachelor of General Studies to further my education and hopefully it will lead me to become a nurse.

I enjoy spending my free time with my family.  During the summer months we enjoy outdoor camping or go boating.  My parents usually take my children to their little hideaway down the river, it's about an hour from Pukatawagan by boat.  It’s a place called "Half-Way Island."  On the island there are three cabins and a big open area where the kids can play or visitors can pitch up their tents if they want to spend the night.  Sometimes my mother and I go to play Bingo. It’s usually exciting, especially when one of us need a number to win a big pot.

My parents and two brothers live down the hill in Pukatawagan in an area called ‘Iaas Bay,’ it’s a pretty quiet neighborhood.  My children and I live in an area called "China Town," it gets pretty noisy during the weekends but we don’t mind, I guess we’re use to it.

Once the opportunity arises I would like to take my family for a trip to see all the things/places we’d like to see.  My family means a lot to me.
